It’s been a little while since we last heard from Hair and Makeup artist extraordinaire and friend of the blog Helen Guy but today we’re excited to say she’s back with some more top tips on how to look your best for your big day! So listen up ladies, this is how it’s done!
What a wonderful summer it has been. Beautiful brides, perfect weather and the gorgeous light and warmth of a sunny day.
Strong colour themes have played a part in many of my weddings with Navy, Black and Purple being key alongside pretty but strong pastels.
The vintage make up look of neutral smoky eyes, gel liner and a strong lip have been central looks throughout the summer and look like they will be staying for the foreseeable future.
But Autumn is definitely here and the days are changing. The sun is lowering and the light has shifted giving dusky evenings all in preparation for winter.
Purples, Clarets and Bright’s are coming into their own. Gold, silver and pewter and dramatic styling will be central to give drama to the perfect Winter wedding.
Strong make up and lip colours remain in vogue alongside classic hair up styles with finger waves and sleek buns keeping looks elegant.
Braiding was so popular in summer and this is going to continue into winter too.
Braiding looks great and adds detail and can also be used to hold back wayward fringes too.
My bridal make up kit consists of lots of different lovely pieces but my favourites for winter are Illamasqua Lipstick in Howl which is a beautiful rich red and compliments all skin tones and I’m also loving MAC shadows in Charcoal Brown and Nylon.
I’m looking forward to finishing another fabulous year with a flurry of beautiful winter weddings, every one different in its own way.
Brides, you never cease to amaze me with your vision and I hope the small part I can play in your big day will bring that vision to fruition…let’s bring it on…xxx
